Step 5 |
Now we will put the text on the image somewhere else besides the center. Bring in the blank, blue banner to IM. Click "annotate". Type in your name in the "text" box. We will put your name up in the top right corner of the banner.
In order for IM to know where to put the text you have to type in parameters in the "offset" or "location" box and north, south, west or east in the "gravity" box. North is the top of your image and south is the bottom. West is the left and east is the right. Northeast would be the top right. In the "gravity" box, choose "northeast". In the "offset" or "location" box, take out +0+0 and put in +20+15. The left number (20) positions the text over to the left away from the right edge. The second number moves it down from the top. So, the +20 is 20 pixels over from the right (east). +15 is 15 pixels down from the top (north). The banner image size is 250 pixels wide x 100 pixels high. Put in a color # and "pointsize", choose a font and click "annotate". It's now on the top right where you told IM to put it. Try doing one using "southwest" +50+30 or +80+45 and see what happens. SouthWest is the bottom and left. Try using just "north" +0+0 It will be centered on the top. South, West, and East +0+0 will just center it also. This takes practice to get text exactly where you want it, so play around with the parameters and remember to use the back key to make changes. Step 6 we will use a couple more effects with annotate.
